What You as Employers are Exposed to with COVID-19

We are all faced with the difficult situation of COVID – 19 as we watch this pandemic change the way business and simultaneously employment is affected. With the words expressed in CBC’s interview with Howard Levitt, getting sued by your employees is something every employer should have on their radar.

When you employ someone, essentially you are providing a contract that the services/work they provide to your company will in turn be rewarded. Part of that agreement inevitably entails hours of work and compensation for those hours of work. During COVID-19 pandemic, many employers have had to resort to temporarily laying off their staff simply because businesses are unable to compensate due to lack of cash flow and/or there is simply no work to be done.  This can be construed as constructive dismissal.

What Kind Of Organization Or Culture Do You Lead?

I use the terms interchangeably because culture and organization or so intertwined. They represent the whole or sum of the parts. When I refer to the parts, I refer to the people that comprise the organization or help to shape the culture.
